„Wind of change“ – 9. November-Berliner Mauerfall

„Wind of Change“ is commonly associated with the fall of the Berlin Wall — but  it was actually inspired by events that took place well before the Wall started coming down in late 1989.

For nearly 30 years the Berlin Wall stood as a concrete manifestation of the Iron Curtain, preventing citizens in communist East Germany from fleeing to democratic, capitalist West Berlin. On the night of November 9, 1989, however, East German authorities suddenly opened the border crossing, and thousands of jubilant Germans celebrated by dancing on top of the wall and chipping away at it with hammers and chisels.
